Agreement for Academic Cooperation and Exchange

The Geological Society of Thailand (GST)
Article 1. This agreement defines the principles and methods of cooperation that the Geological Society of Japan (JGS) and the Geological Society of Thailand (GST) wish to develop between them under equal partnership. This cooperation includes training, research, and other academic activities within the geology and earth science fields of the two societies.
Article 2. The JGS and the GST agree to promote academic cooperation between both societies in geology and earth science fields through the means as follows.
1) Exchange of academic materials and other information
2) Mutual invitations to participate in scientific seminars and annual meetings
3) Joint organization of seminars and academic meetings
4) Joint or collaborative research activities and publications
Article 3. The activities mentioned in Article 2 shall be financed according to the availability of funds. The execution of this agreement will not cause any financial obligations to either society. The societies will endeavour to obtain from third parties (regional, national, or international) the funds necessary for this cooperation.
Article 4. Both societies will endeavour to find further fields of common interest in order to develop other specific cooperation in the future.
Article 5. The agreement shall take effect on the date of signing by the respective authorities of both societies. The agreement is concluded for a period of five years. After the initial five-year period, this agreement may be renewed by mutual consent of both societies. Either society may terminate this agreement by giving one month's prior notice in writing.
